Why travel? What lures us into stepping outside of day-to-day life? Taking off in a car, on a plane, in a train, on a boat or by foot to a place we’ve never been before, or perhaps returning to a favorite spot that feeds our soul. These trips often materialize through careful planning and preparation to fulfill a dream or follow a calling fueled by curiosity, ambition, and independence. Sometimes spontaneous excursions manifest themselves right when we need to get away. Travel is a journey. The destination is the catalyst. Throughout the voyage, we inherently become closer to our raw selves. Taking a trip is rewarding ourselves with an escape, or a chance to break the mold, or to liberate ourselves from self-imposed boundaries. Intrinsically thrust outside of our comfort zone we become vulnerable, inviting misadventure and challenge and facing unexpected outcomes. The reward is growth.
